Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma – Everything is Divine

Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma – Everything is Divine

“Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma” is a Sanskrit phrase from the Chandogya Upanishad that translates to “All this is Brahman.” It holds one of the most liberating and beautiful messages of Indian philosophy. It reminds us that everything around us – the seen and the unseen – is divine.

Most of us tend to separate the sacred from the ordinary. We think of temples, rituals, and festivals as places of devotion, and the rest of life as something different. This phrase dissolves that boundary. It says that divinity is not somewhere else. It is everywhere, in every form, every sound, and every living being.

When we live with this understanding, our way of seeing changes completely. The small things become sacred. The way we cook food, speak to others, or walk in nature becomes part of spiritual practice. Every moment becomes an opportunity to connect with the divine.

This truth also brings unity. If everything is Brahman, then there is no separation between “me” and “you.” The essence that flows through one person flows through all. That awareness naturally brings compassion. Anger, jealousy, and pride begin to lose their hold because one starts seeing the same light in everyone.

In the modern world, where speed and comparison often dominate, remembering “Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma” can bring immense peace. It reminds us that even in chaos, the divine is present. Even in pain, there is sacred energy moving through experience.

This teaching invites us to live consciously, not by escaping the world but by embracing it fully. To treat life itself as an expression of divinity. When you see the world in this way, gratitude becomes natural. You begin to find peace not by running away from things but by seeing the oneness behind them.

“Everything is Brahman” is not a belief. It is a way of seeing. Once this vision deepens, every breath feels like prayer, and every day becomes sacred.
